Marketing Leader · Brand Builder · TEDx Speaker

I make brands
people remember.

I'm Varun Mundra. I started interning at 13, sold my first websites at 17 for ₹11 a pop, and have spent 14+ years across India's best agencies — most recently as Head of Marketing at Motilal Oswal. I like brands with a spine and a sense of humour.

What I do

Brand. Growth. Marketing, run as one system.

My point of view

What I actually believe about marketing.

01

Brand and performance aren't rivals.

Starve either one and growth stalls. I build the two to feed each other, not compete for budget.

02

Fewer, sharper bets beat a busy calendar.

Most brands do too much, too quietly. I'd rather make three things impossible to ignore than thirty nobody remembers.

03

AI is a capability, not a campaign.

The win isn't a shiny launch — it's building AI into how the team works every day, responsibly.

04

In India, vernacular isn't a segment.

It's the market. Regional and cultural fluency is where the next hundred million customers actually are.

05

Distinctiveness compounds.

Sameness is the most expensive thing a brand can buy. A point of view is cheaper and it lasts.

In brief

From selling ₹11 websites at 17 to leading marketing at a listed financial giant.

At 17 I sold websites for ₹11 — the price of a Mumbai rickshaw meter — and got featured on CNBC's Young Turks. Then London, and 14+ years across Dentsu Webchutney, Jack in the Box, Isobar, White Rivers Media and The Glitch — Netflix, Visa, Surf Excel, Closeup, Tata Motors — and, since 2022, as Head of Marketing at Motilal Oswal: a 35-person team built from zero, ₹80–100 Cr budgets, a full rebrand, and AI-native marketing at institutional scale.
