Visa · Payments & Behaviour

Making ‘tap to pay’ feel effortless and Indian.

Contactless payment was a new behaviour for millions. You don’t win a new habit by explaining the chip. You win it by making the moment look effortless.

The challenge

Contactless was unfamiliar to many Indians, and unfamiliar plus money equals hesitation. The task was to make a brand-new payment behaviour feel simple, fast and safe — across India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh — without drowning people in technology.

Behaviour change comes from showing ease, not explaining technology. The insight
The insight

People don’t adopt a new behaviour because they understand how it works; they adopt it because they’ve seen how easy it looks. So the job wasn’t education — it was to make one clean gesture, a tap, feel so effortless and everyday that trying it required no courage at all.

The work

Working with Visa’s global brand teams, I adapted the global contactless story for the Indian market and delivered integrated campaigns around it, including a Visa + PVR partnership — keeping the global craft standard while making the whole thing feel unmistakably local. This was during my Isobar years.

The outcome

A campaign featured on Ads of the World and recognised for its craft — global consistency and local relevance holding hands rather than fighting.
