Sleepycat · D2C & Brand
Comfort as a stance during a hard time.
During the pandemic, a mattress brand had a choice: sell a product, or speak to what people were actually feeling. We chose the feeling.
The pandemic wrecked sleep cycles and mental health at scale. For a young D2C mattress brand, ‘comfort’ stopped being a product feature and became a real, emotional need — but talking about it risked sounding either tone-deaf or opportunistic.
In uncertain times, permission to rest is a powerful brand message. The insight
When everyone is being told to hustle, adapt and cope, the most resonant thing a comfort brand can offer isn’t a discount — it’s permission. Permission to slow down and own your comfort, without guilt. That reframes a mattress from a purchase into a small act of self-respect.
We devised a campaign for Sleepycat mattresses led by a brand film and multiple ‘shorties’ — short, shareable pieces — built to earn attention rather than buy it, and pitched at the tone the moment demanded.
Strong organic pick-up and brand affinity for a young D2C brand, with mass appeal from lifestyle influencers and notice from advertising watchdogs — reach earned on resonance, not spend.
