Chapter 04.1 · The Agency Decade
Webchutney — where craft met scale.
My first agency stop, and the one that turned a self-taught maker into a disciplined one.
After London I wanted to learn craft at scale inside India’s sharpest digital-native network. Webchutney, part of the Dentsu group, was where the best digital work was being made — so I started at the bottom of it on purpose.
How enormous FMCG brands actually behave: how a global playbook meets a regional headquarters, how ideas survive a dozen approvals, how craft holds up at scale rather than in a portfolio of one.
I stopped being precious about the artefact and started respecting the system that ships it. My ₹11 instinct for perception got a professional toolkit — and I learned that at scale, consistency is a creative discipline, not a constraint.
I found I cared less about making the deliverable and more about whether it moved the brand. That pull — toward owning the relationship, not just the file — sent me to my next stop.
